By following some tips/advices I am sharing with you, you can decor your home to welcome Ramadan and bring beauty and spirit of this month indoors.
1- Make and send homemade Ramadan cards:
Before the month starts, have an arts and crafts session to make Ramadan Mubarak cards for siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles. Send the cards soon though, time’s running out!-and put your cards given by your siblings or friends at side tables of your bed.
2-Dates in elegant jars:
Dates are a staple during Ramadan since breaking the fast by eating dates is tradition. Bring this tradition to the forefront by placing your date supply in elegant apothecary jars or vases. A grouping of these can be used as a holy table centerpiece or to decorate your kitchen counter.
3-Use Diffusers:
Diffusers are great thing to décor your home to welcome Ramadan. Place some diffusers at the entrance and in the dining room where you serve food to make your house fresh as if you smell good you feel good.
4-Lanterns:
Use of lantern in Ramadan is old tradition of Muslims. You can welcome Ramadan by placing decorative lanterns around your home. Lanterns are available in many shapes, sizes and colors. It will give bright look to home. Add small sized lantern at middle of your table and of large size on the floor, hang at your terrace or jharokas.
5-Shelf/handmade box for Ramadan story books:
To motivate kids to fast you can make colorful handmade box by using shoe boxes and cover it with ribbons or glazed paper than put Ramadan story books in it and tell a story at their bed time every night.
6-Fresh flowers:
Fresh flowers are all time favorite of mine. I think everybody love to have fresh bouquet or flower vases in home. Place fresh flowers in different vases near your dinning and prayer room to have the effect of spirituality. Get creative by displaying colorful blooms throughout your homes. This year Ramadan will fall in the summer, making fresh flowers easily accessible to everyone.
7- Poms:
Poms are a quick and easy way to liven up a space. Mix complimentary colors or keep in monochromatic. A verity of tissue paper colors can go with any home interior color scheme.
8- Use Chattai:
As During the blessed month of Ramadan, Muslims all over the world abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs during the daylight hours. As a time to purify the soul, refocus attention on God, and practice self-sacrifice, Ramadan is much more than just not eating and drinking. So, Place beautiful colored or contrasted chattai at certain area of your lounge or praying room with adding round pillow for the family members or guests to sit their and recite Quran and read tasbeeh.
9-Countdown Chart:
Make a countdown chart and place it in your lounge. It will get everyone excited about the arrival of Eid by keeping track of the days leading up to it with a countdown chart. You can also decorate your walls with Islamic quotes or ayaat hangings.
10-Candles:
You can decorate your home to welcome Ramadan by using fragrant candles to add extra lighting to your home during this month. Even the soft glow of candles can add accent lighting to your décor and their fragrance will give you active and fresh feeling. Put your candles in candle stand of different styles to safe your table or mats from its hot wax.
Do all the above mentioned decorations before Ramadan start to pay full attention towards Ramadan basic and important purpose. With all this don’t forget poor and make special gift packs for them and give them so they can also celebrate and welcome Ramadan with you. Happy Ramadan from my side!
